Maree Basketball says 'Thank you' to retiring Calasanctius Principal Joe Harrison
Una Finn, Chair of Maree, made a presentation to Joe Harrison on Tuesday. Joe is about to retire as Principal of Calasanctius College. He presided over the most successful period in the history of Calasanctius basketball, and has always supported and nurtured the school's partnership with Maree Basketball Club.
We wish Joe well and expect to see him at some future games!

National Cup Draws for 2010/11 season
Today in the National Basketball Arena Tallaght, the draws were made for the various National Cups for 2010/11.
Under 18 Girls
There will be four preliminary tournaments, in Dublin (host Killester), Dublin (host Liffey Celtic), Waterford (host Wildcats) and Claregalway (host Claregalway). Maree have been drawn to play in the Claregalway tournament. Each tournament has two pools. Our pool opponents will be Claregalway and Fr Mathews. The other pool comprises Mercy, Carraig na bhFear, Swords and St Colm’s. The game between the two pool-winners will determine which of them will have a home Quarter-final and which an away tie. So when the four tournaments are over, there will be four teams that have earned home ties, and four with away ties. A further draw will decide which home team plays which away team.
Under 18 Boys
There will be four preliminary tournaments, in Belfast (hosted by Queen’s), Dublin (hosted by St Vincent’s), Cork (hosted by Neptune) and Oranmore (hosted by Maree!). Each tournament has two pools. Our pool opposition is Lisburn City and St Paul’s Killarney. The other pool is made up of Kubs, Fr Mathews and Templeogue. Pool winners go through to National Quarter-finals, with the game between pool winners determining home and away, as for the girls.
Under 20 Men
Maree are through to a home Quarter-final game. We won’t know our opponents until the other 14 teams have been played, 7 more Quarter-finalists are determined, and a draw has been made.
Maree Men
Maree have drawn a home tie against Fr Mathews of Cork.
